A nod to Bead Table Wednesday by Heather Powers.
I never remember to post for BTW when it is actually Wednesday. I have something fun to share today and Wedneday still has six hours left. Better late than never!
A shipment arrived about 3 days ago. I’ve been too busy to unpack the box. (Very unlike me). It has been sitting under my bead table the entire time. It was time to move it to the top of the bead table and see what is inside.
Oh Look – there was a smaller box inside the big box. But wait! What is that on the top?
Can you guess what is inside the box?
That’s right. The VBK. (Vintaj Big Kick). I decided to take advantage of the 20% off storewide sale that Beadaholique had last week and ordered the deluxe kit with 10 embossing and etching dies. The kit itself is a savings and then another 20% off. I’m a sucker for a sale.
For those of you that don’t know what this is, Sizzix tradtionally has the Big Kick that cuts and embosses paper for paper crafting and scrapbooking. Vintaj collaborated with Sizzix on this brand new product that was just released to the retail market. This machine will also cut and emboss paper – but these special etching and embossing dies will actually leave an impression on metal. Very fun! You can make all kinds of cool patterns on metal blanks.
I researched before buying to see what gauge metal blanks Vintaj uses. I wanted to use the Vintaj Big Kick to emboss on my 24 & 26 gauge metal sheet so I can cut my own shapes without having to always buy blanks. The blanks come in so many neat shapes- but I wanted to play a little more abstract and make impressions on metal without having to make a mess with an etching solution.
I have not had time to try it yet. I will share some of my practice pieces in the next post!
Will someone please invent a pill so I can only sleep about 4 hours a night and still be healthy and feel great or just find a way to timewarp and extend the day by at least 4 hours! I really need to slow time down a bit these days!
